Centre for Applied Research & Extension (CARE) is a Non profit voluntary Organization registered under Societies Registration Act in the year 1995. Its registration number is 59, dated 2/5/1995. It is also registered under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) 1976 on 10/1/02. It has Income Tax (IT) exemption under Sections 12 A & 80 G.

The organization has started with the objectives to develop unity and create equality among the people in society, to undertake participatory technology development in the vital areas like agriculture, ecology, water and other related fields to arrive at feasible options to people. Extend support for management of natural resources thorough participatory approach benefiting poorer sections.

Networking with other organizations having similar objectives and collaborative work with Govt. academic institutions, research centers and voluntary agencies in India and abroad are also been considered essential and working in similar direction to realize the synergy.

CARE has come into existence with the initiative of a small group of likeminded people with concern to serve the disadvantaged people. A small group of likeminded people have initiated the work. CARE has started work at grass-root level in most backward and remote areas of Mahaboobnagar District, based on the need of the people and the area. In the subsequent years, the organization could get lot of recognition on account of its good work in the district in reaching the needy people and today the organization has become one of the leading NGO’s.

The following are some of the important areas of work carried out by the organization during past:

Initiated the work in collaboration with the Forest Department. Organization has developed Micro plans through PRA approach for about 120 villages covering Mahabubnager, Nalgonda and Rangareddy districts for integrated development of community lands and the forest area. It has also developed the base line documents for the project villages. Completed the evaluation of Joint Forest Management Projects implemented in the Mahabubnager and Rangaareddy districts and also presented the results to the World Bank Mission.

  • Evaluated the impact of the CI wells implemented by the SC Corporation of Mahabubnager district
  • Formation of Women Self Help groups work has started with the support of Action Aid India and assisted the groups to overcome the bottlenecks faced by the community in the selected villages in a limited extent.
  • Natural resource management in a small area belonged to the SC’s on a watershed basis was been taken up by the organization successfully.
  • Organization has recognized the child labor problem in the district and completed a detailed study in association with the APARD and the UNICEF
  • As a follow-up to the study started the Girl Child residential School with the support of National Child Labor Project (NCLP).
  • CARE could able to contact the reputed World Education with the help of the kind hart people. Organization has initiated an innovative program in girl child education with the theme of activity based learning approach, which is giving promising results.
  • Organization has approached the DM&HO and accessed the resources to help the women and children in the rural areas. Equipping the people with necessary information, Knowledge and skills to avail the facilities extended by the governme

The Dutch-funded APWELL Project has been an important funding partner for CARE, since 2002. The focus of the project was on providing ground water based irrigation facilities to the small and marginal farmers, who are deprived of benefits of economic development. After that the new thinking in the project, culminated in successful pilot testing of the concept of participatory Hydrological Monitoring (PHM).

The present APFAMGS Project supported by the BIRDS organization has really strengthened the capacity of the organization in terms of support for technical staff and needed infrastructure to serve the people in ground water management through innovative methods. This has come to reality because of the relentless efforts made by a concerned dedicated three-member team.     

Awards of CARE
CARE has been awarded with the commendation certificate by the District Collector & Magistrate for the excellent services rendered in the district  on the eve of 15 August 2005 award the year 2005 from his Excellency from the Collector of the Mahaboobnagar district.
